Want to pin pictures you find on the iPad using Pintrest? It’s possible to create a bookmark within Safari that lets you do this. Here are the 3 steps:
First: Press and hold on, then Copy this long bit of text:
I didn’t write all that gobbledygoo; Pintrest did. It’s the same goo used by their Pin It button at http://pinterest.com/about/goodies/.
Second, in Safari on the iPad, open any website you like. No really, any website you like. Hit the share button () and tap Add Bookmark. In step 3 this is going to become your Pintrest pin-it bookmark, so type in a memorable name, like “Pin It”, then Save.
Step 3! Tap the bookmarks button, find the bookmark you just created but just look, don’t tap it… tap Edit, and NOW go ahead and tap the bookmark. Tap into the address area, hit the X to clear the address, then tap into the address area again and Paste. Tap Done on the keyboard and Done in Bookmarks.
You’re done! Now when you want to pin something to Pintrest, get the page open in Safari (in most iOS apps, for example Flipboard, this involves several uses of a share button ) and once viewing the page in Safari, use the bookmark you created.
Important note: I have the currently iPhone-specific Pintrest app installed, and I find this bookmark sometimes launches that app instead of doing what it’s supposed to do (show the Pintrest website’s add-a-pin screen in Safari.) To avoid this I uninstalled the Pintrest app, since it’s not better than the Pintrest website anyhow at the moment. If you don’t want to uninstall, after using the bookmark and getting accosted by the Pintrest app, switch back to Safari and you’ll find the website add-a-pin screen waiting for you there.
